Who we are
The Victory Players is a program of the Massachusetts International Festival of the Arts and the MIFA Victory Theater. Led by music director, Tianhui Ng, the program celebrates the achievements of extraordinary young professional classical musicians even as it creates opportunities to combine musical excellence with community engagement, advocacy, and teaching.
In its short history, the ensemble is proud to have partnered with numerous public schools across western Massachusetts, and community organizations like El Sol Latino, Nueva Esperanza, Holyoke Public Library, and Holyoke Public Media, in addition to professional residencies with the groundbreaking White Snake Projects. The ensemble is especially proud of it’s latest partnership in October 2020 on “Alice in the Pandemic”, which will join the Library of Congress’s special collections as one of the most outstanding works of art in the nation during the pandemic.
In 2020/2021, the ensemble appeared at the HERE Arts Center in New York, NY, in a SWELL, a celebration of immigrant voices, a groundbreaking new opera with White Snake Projects on the over-representation of Black communities among the incarcerated, before concluding the four-year long project of El Puerto Rico with the premieres of 7 new pieces inspired by Puerto Rico and the Puerto Rican community in our home of Holyoke, MA.
